Leyton Orient 1-1 Carlisle: Blues end losing run with point
Saturday 26 October 2019 18:27, UK
Carlisle ended a run of four successive league defeats with a 1-1 draw against a Leyton Orient side playing their first home league game under new boss Carl Fletcher.
The visitors were a goal down after just seven minutes at Brisbane Road after Jarrad Branthwaite brought James Brophy down inside the box. Josh Wright stepped forward to put the O's in front from the penalty spot, sending Adam Collin the wrong way.
Despite dictating the play, Orient were unable to add to their advantage before the break and were made to pay the price when the Cumbrians levelled within three minutes of the restart.
A goalmouth scramble following a corner for the visitors saw the ball break to Jack Iredale, who slammed his shot home from close range for the equaliser.
That completely rejuvenated United who started to ask questions of their hosts but Nathan Thomas and Olufela Olomola both fluffed easy chances late in the game.
In response, Orient's best opportunity fell to Brophy, who brought out a fine save from Collin.
