Chester salvage Luton draw

Paul McManus scored late on as Chester drew 1-1 with Luton to extend their unbeaten run.

McManus cancels out Hall's opener

Paul McManus' second-half header extended ten-man Chester's unbeaten run to five games and kept Luton firmly rooted to the bottom of the table following a 1-1 draw. The diminutive striker was left unmarked to head home Ryan Lowe's free-kick after 77 minutes, cancelling out Asa Hall's first-half opener and continuing the Blues' recent revival. The Hatters gradually grew in stature and took the lead after 41 minutes thanks to superb bravery from Claude Gnakpa. The full-back clattered into the advertising hoardings to keep the ball in play at the byline and Rossi Jarvis flicked on for Hall to volley into the top corner from just inside the penalty area. Luton had further chances to stretch their lead after the break but were punished for sitting back as McManus nodded his second of the season. Kevin Roberts was sent off for a second yellow card three minutes from time, but Chester hung on.
