Highlights of Luton's 2-1 win over Newport in Sky Bet League Two

A controversial injury-time penalty saw Luton defeat Newport 2-1 at Kenilworth Road.

In the final minute of injury time, Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu went down in the area and, despite protests from the visitors that the Hatters midfielder had dived, referee Charles Breakspear awarded a spot kick, which Cameron McGeehan converted.

That was McGeehan's second succesful penalty of the night, with the first cancelled out by Jennison Myrie-Williams' goal.

Earlier Jordan Cook had tested Joe Day, the visiting keeper parrying his long-range attempt, while the keeper stopped Jack Marriott's low effort easily.

Newport threatened through Sean Rig, who forced Christian Walton to tip over at the near post.

Danny Hylton then missed a glorious chance, heading Stephen O'Donnell's cross wide from close range.

After the break Mpanzu put a decent chance over the bar before he was denied by a brave block from visiting keeper Day.

The Exiles stopper then saved brilliantly from Marriott's low drive, but there was nothing he could do once Hylton was fouled in the area and McGeehan side-footed the spot kick past him on 62 minutes.

However, Newport levelled on 70 minutes when Myrie-Williams' corner went through Walton's weak punch and straight into the net.

Town had Johnny Mullins sent off with seven minutes to go and Mpanzu was inches away late on before McGeehan settled it.
