Signed from Worksop in the closed season, the 21-year-old livewire has now grabbed five from six starts and was cheered from the pitch. His opener came in the 36th minute when he pounced on a fluffed clearance from Cobblers' keeper Sam Walker before dancing to the edge of the box and blasting a low drive inside the near post. However Macclesfield were caught on the break moments before half-time when Lewis Young, watched by his brother Ashley, picked out Marlon Jackson, who scored from 10 yards. Tomlinson then turned provider, releasing sub Colin Daniel, who converted with his first touch of the game in the 87th minute.
