In-form Accrington made it five wins out of six and kept John Coleman's 100 per cent record intact with a 1-0 victory at Mansfield.

The game was won with a 10th-minute penalty from skipper Luke Joyce, while the Stags' afternoon of misery ended with their skipper Adam Murray sent off. Accrington were in charge for much of the first half and could have gone into the interval with more than their one-goal advantage. Marcus Carver sent an early effort across the face of goal and Sasha Studer had to deny Kal Naismith with his legs before the home goalkeeper gave away a 10th-minute penalty. He was late with his challenge on Carver and the referee pointed straight to the spot from where Joyce powered home the spot-kick inside the left post. Studer had two more saves to make from Sean Maguire, keeping out a powerful blast and then blocking a low finish after great work from Naismith. A tame shot from Matt Rhead at keeper Aaron Chapman and efforts wide from Rakish Bingham and Lee Beevers were all the Stags had to show for a poor first half which ended with some boos from the stands. Mansfield changed formation and were much improved after the break, Murray and Bingham going close. But Accrington stood firm and the hosts suffered a body blow when skipper Murray was sent off eight minutes from time after catching Rob Atkinson late as he saw the ball out for a goal-kick. Fergus Bell then had to head an Atkinson header off the line from a stoppage-time corner as victorious Stanley ended on top.
