Darren Anderton was the hero for Bournemouth as the League Two club knocked Johnstone's Paint Trophy holders Milton Keynes Dons out at the second round. MK Dons won the competition last season at Wembley under the management of Paul Ince, who has since taken up the head coach role at Premier League outfit Blackburn Rovers. Under the guidance of Roberto Di Matteo, the League One club were stunned by the Cherries when Danny Hollands' 25-yard strike deflected off Anderton past the wrong-footed Nathan Abbey on 78 minutes. The Dons battled for a leveller until the death and, while they piled on the pressure, Bournemouth held on to claim a memorable scalp.
