MK Dons hit Crewe for six

Dele Alli hit a hat-trick as MK Dons bounced back to form when thrashing Crewe 6-1 to move up to second place in League One.

Will Grigg, Benik Afobe and Ben Reeves also netted for Karl Robinson's side as the Dons put last week's home loss to Bradford behind them and produced the kind of football which stunned Manchester United in the Capital One Cup last month. The rout put them five points behind Bristol City, with a game in hand, after the leaders were held to a 3-3 draw at Fleetwood. The Robins seemed set for another success when replying to an opener from Josh Morris with a Kieran Agard brace and an Aaron Wilbraham strike, but Fleetwood rallied for a point thanks to goals from Jamie Proctor and Stephen Dobbie. Peterborough slipped to a second straight defeat when going down 1-0 at Yeovil, with Joel Grant breaking the deadlock in the 88th minute. Doncaster enjoyed an entertaining 3-2 win over Chesterfield, with Nathan Tyson, Kyle Bennett and Jamie McCombe scoring for Rovers, while the visitors could only respond through Samuel Clucas and red-hot forward Eoin Doyle. Bradford were held to a goalless stalemate at Colchester and those last two results allowed Swindon to move up to fourth with a 5-2 thrashing of Sheffield United at the County Ground. Town took control through a Michael Smith brace and a Jonathan Obika strike before the Blades rallied via goals from Marc McNulty and Ben Davies, only for Andy Williams and Louis Thompson to end any hopes of a comeback. Port Vale shaded Barnsley 2-1 as Michael O'Connor and Mark Marshall struck either side of a Conor Hourihane penalty, while Leyton Orient prevailed by the same scoreline at Scunthorpe thanks to goals from Scott Cuthbert and Jobi McAnuff. Joe Garner netted from the spot to wrap up a 2-0 victory for Preston over Crawley and Ian Henderson fired in a penalty as Rochdale edged out Coventry 1-0, but there were no goals in the games between Gillingham and Walsall and Notts County and Oldham.
