Bernardo Silva scored the only goal of the game as Monaco maintained their impressive unbeaten run with a 1-0 Ligue 1 victory over Nantes.

Leonardo Jardim's men's seven-match winning streak in all competitions was ended in a draw against Bordeaux last week, but they bounced back to beat Guingamp in the Coupe de la Ligue before their success on Saturday.

That was achieved thanks to defender Silva's close-range effort in the 73rd minute, although they were given a let-off in stoppage time when Jordan Veretout's strike deflected off Nantes team-mate Johan Audel and onto the bar.

It would have been a cruel blow for the home side, who put their foot down after the break following a nip-and-tuck first half.

Alejandro Bedoya's 30-yard strike only just missed the target but that was the closest Nantes came to breaking the deadlock in the opening 45 minutes.

At the other end, Anthony Marial and Layvin Kurzawa went close as the home side began to take control but it remained honours even at the interval.

The hosts continued to assert their dominance in the early stages of the second half, with Yannick Ferreira Carrasco capitalising on a poor pass from Lucas Deaux and racing through on goal, only to hit the side-netting with his effort.

Nantes goalkeeper Remy Riou was called into action to prevent Fabinho's stinging strike from the right side of the penalty area, but there was nothing he could do to prevent Monaco from taking the lead 17 minutes from time.

Kurzawa's cross was brought down by Dimitar Berbatov, whose clever back-heel was only half cleared which allowed on-loan Benfica midfielder Silva to slot home from close range.

That was enough to give them all three points but they were given a scare when Veretout's deflected effort cannoned off the bar in the third minute of injury time.
