Shrimps extend unbeaten run to 11 games

Morecambe maintained their excellent run of form with a 2-1 victory over a battling Barnet side. The Shrimps extended their unbeaten run to 11 games but were made to work all the way by Ian Hendon's side, who spurned two late chances to snatch a point. Dave Artell headed Morecambe into the lead after 32 minutes when Barnet goalkeeper Jake Cole missed Michael Twiss's right-wing corner, but the visitors were level within a minute. Speedy winger Albert Adomah crossed from the right and the visitors' in-form striker John O'Flynn reacted sharply in the box to stroke the ball past the helpless Barry Roche from six yards. The Shrimps regained the lead shortly afterwards through Wayne Curtis, the midfielder firing past Cole from the edge of the area, though there were question marks over the keeper once again. Cole then went some way to making amends for his earlier error with a superb save from Twiss's close-range volley before the Bees came back into the game. Neal Bishop volleyed just over from the edge of the area and a Nick Deverdics shot was superbly blocked by Stewart Drummond.
