      Northern Ireland Under 21s got their qualification campaign back on track with victory over Luxembourg.

      Northern Ireland Under 21s got their Euro 2009 qualification campaign back on track with a thumping 5-0 victory over Luxembourg. Roy Millar's side now head Group Nine after effectively wrapping up the match in the first seven minutes. Millar had urged his side to take the game to the visitors from the off, and they needed no second invitation They raced into a 3-0 lead with some fans still arriving at Glenavon's Mourneview Park. Bohemians' Chris Turner, who had a spell at Derby, was outstanding in a one-sided affair. He scored once and set up two goals.

      With senior manager Nigel Worthington looking on, David Buchanan opened the scoring in the second minute, applying a clinical finish after being released by Turner. Turner also had a hand in the second two minutes later with a measured pass into the centre from which Andrew Waterworth gave the goalkeeper no chance. Michael O'Connor added a third in the seventh minute with Luxembourg back-pedalling and there was no respite for the visitors. Jamie Ward made it 4-0 to Northern Ireland after 27 minutes with a snap-shot from an acute angle. Turner got in on the act after 56 minutes with a fine individual effort for the fifth goal. While that was the end of the scoring, the result puts Northern Ireland in good heart for the next qualfier against Moldova at the same venue next Tuesday.
