Christian Maggio scored in injury time to earn Napoli a deserved victory over Palermo at the Stadio San Paolo on Monday night.
Just when it appeared visiting goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu would be the man of the match after making a string of fine saves, former Palermo star Edinson Cavani set up Maggio for the game winner.
Napoli moved level on 27 points with Juventus and in the process ended Palermo's three-match winning run.
With one minute remaining, Maggio could have handed Napoli all three points but fell before striking the ball with only Sirigu to beat.
The hosts finally got their breakthrough with Cavani working his magic and feeding Maggio inside the box.
Maggio made no mistake, hitting the ball with his left foot into the back of the net.
