Aaron O'Connor scored his seventh goal of the season before being sent off as Newport County beat Stevenage 2-0 on Saturday.
The striker grabbed his fifth in five games before being dismissed in injury time for the Exiles. Defender Darren Jones got County's second as Justin Edinburgh's side chalked up a fifth home win. After a scrappy opening, the game finally came to life when Stevenage midfielder Charlie Lee tested Exiles goalkeeper Jamie Stephens with a shot from 20 yards. But it was the home side who struck first in the 26th minute when Lee Minshull flicked on Ryan Jackson's long throw and O'Connor guided a header into the bottom corner. County doubled their lead three minutes into first-half injury time when centre-back Jones got on the end of Jackson's mis-hit shot to slot the ball past Chris Day. Jackson went close to getting a goal for himself in the second half when his cross almost sneaked in the top corner. O'Connor was then shown a red card in the 92nd minute for a clumsy foul on Dean Wells.
