Finland international goalkeeper Jesse Joronen could have played his last game for Stevenage due to a thigh injury.

The 22-year-old is on loan at Stevenage from Fulham but was forced off in Saturday's 3-0 FA Cup first-round win over Gillingham after hurting his thigh when taking a goal-kick.

Stevenage boss Teddy Sheringham confirmed Joronen could miss up to six weeks, which would take him near to the end of his initial six-month loan spell which was agreed in August, but also hopes to extend the goalkeeper's stay.

"It could be four, five or six weeks which takes him up to the end of his loan, which is a shame for us. I really like Jesse, I think he's a fantastic young goalkeeper," Sheringham said.

"I would like to see him back here until the end of the season really. That would do him the world of good to get him more games, and show Fulham exactly what he can do."
