Gerard Pique is "obsessed" with Real Madrid, claims Alvaro Arbeloa, after the Barcelona defender mocked their expulsion from the Copa del Rey for fielding an ineligible player.
Los Blancos beat Cadiz 3-1 in their cup tie last week, but brought on Denis Cheryshev who was still supposed to be serving a suspension he picked up playing for Villarreal on loan last season.
This lead to Real being disqualified from the competition and Barcelona defender Pique appeared to revel in their fierce rivals' misfortune, tweeting a series of laughing emojis mocking their error.
Real defender Arbeloa did not take too kindly to this, and spoke to Spanish sports newspaper Marca after his side's 8-0 win over Malmo in the Champions League.
"Pique seems obsessed with us," he said. "I'll see him in a comedy club talking about Madrid. The last 10 years for Barca don't equal Madrid's history."
But Cristiano Ronaldo, who netted four times at the Bernabeu on Tuesday, refused to get drawn into the controversy.
"It's not worth talking about, I don't want to give free publicity," added the Los Blancos captain.
It isn't the first time Pique has taken a pop at Real, publicly ridiculing the club and Ronaldo during their treble celebrations earlier this year.
The Spain international is thought to be a strong supporter of Catalan independence in Barcelona, adding to tensions between himself and the Madrid-based club.
