Tyrone Barnett leaves Shrewsbury Town for Southend United loan

Shrewsbury striker Tyrone Barnett has joined Sky Bet League 1 rivals Southend on loan until the end of the season.
Barnett has scored six goals in 27 games for the Shrews in the current campaign but fell out of favour under manager Micky Mellon, starting just one game since October.
The 30-year-old will compete for a starting spot with fellow Shrimpers forwards Noel Hunt, David Mooney and Jason Williams as Phil Brown's side look to bounce back from successive defeats, which have left them outside the promotion places.
"I've been chasing him for a while, he's a player that brings pace and power to the attack," Southend boss Brown said.
"It's not quite worked out for him at Shrewsbury but I'm confident he'll be a success here."
Before Shrewsbury, Barnett played for Peterborough, Crawley and Macclesfield as well as various loan spells, and he said the lure of playing under Brown was a big factor in his decision to move.
"I was aware that the club was interested in me previously, but I've always been a fan of Phil Brown." Barnett said.
"I followed the club obviously through playing in the same league, together the aspirations are getting in the play-offs, and hopefully getting promoted."
Barnett is the third forward to leave Shrewsbury this week after James Collins departed and Liam McAlinden's loan spell ended, although Andy Mangan has joined from Tranmere.
