Eddie Howe says there is no pressure on Bournemouth's new signings to turn their season around. He also refused to comment on the Stephan El Shaarawy link

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe says Juan Iturbe's arrival on the south coast represents a watershed moment for the club.

The Roma forward arrived on loan last weekend and Howe hopes to have the 22-year-old available for the Premier League clash with West Ham next Tuesday, subject to international clearance.

Born in Argentina and capped at U20 level before switching to Paraguay at senior level, Iturbe does not speak English but Howe does not foresee that as a problem in the weeks ahead.

"It's a new experience for the club to have someone come in as a high-profile transfer," said Howe ahead of his side's FA Cup third round trip to Birmingham.

"It's exciting to be able to integrate Juan into the squad. He's a talented boy, hopefully he can do very well for us. We're trying to make the settling-in period as easy as we can for him. We have an interpreter.

"A lot is made of the language barrier, but once you're on the pitch it's fine."

Howe was reluctant to talk of further incomings in the January transfer window, including their reported bid for AC Milan's Stephan El Shaarawy, suggesting it would be difficult to do a lot of business in a month when those selling hold all the cards.

"I've been told a couple of names which surprised me," he said. "It is silly season in the sense that you're going to be linked with everybody, but we don't comment on individual targets.

"We are looking, seeing what is available and what we can do. We will try and do one or two little bits, but certainly not to the level that everyone's discussing.

"We know where we want to improve but I won't be disclosing that. It's ongoing, it's a really difficult window for us, hampered by the fact we've had a couple of injuries in key areas. It's very much a seller's market. We'll see what happens, but it's going to be a difficult window to recruit in."
