Colchester defender Alex Wynter is back home as he recovers from a head injury suffered against Tottenham.

Wynter was knocked out and later taken to hospital following a clash of heads with team-mate Tom Eastman during Saturday's FA Cup defeat.

Scans cleared him of serious damage, but the Football Association's guidelines on concussion mean he will be sidelined for the next fortnight.

Club physio Tony Flynn told the club website: "Alex was released from hospital late on Saturday evening after a period of observation and spent the remainder of the weekend resting up at home in Colchester with his family.

"He is still a little groggy, but will now undergo a period of cognitive and physical rest for the next two weeks in line with FA guidelines.

"After that time, he will return to the club and take part in a graduated return over the next week, where we will keep a close eye on his progress.

"Depending on how he fares in that time, then the club will be able to make a decision on how soon he can return to action."
