A centre-back, Nilsson has previously played for Dutch side FC Utrecht and most recently plied his trade at Kalmar, while he is also fully capped by his national side Sweden

The 27-year-old, whose contract duration is yet to be announced by Fleetwood, said on the club's website: "I always liked English football. I'm looking forward to coming here and working hard.

"I've been abroad before, it taught me a lot. I'm happy to come here and give it my all.

"I played for the young international teams, at under-21 and I have one cap for Sweden in South Africa."
