Gennaro Gattuso has rejoined Pisa as coach one month after walking out on the Serie B side in a protest at poor working conditions.
Pisa confirmed the former Italy and AC Milan midfielder had agreed to return and would take charge of his first training session on Friday.
Gattuso won promotion from the third tier last season after winning a two-leg play-off against Foggia and said it was as good as winning the Champions League with Milan.
However, the 38-year-old quit the club on August 1, claiming there were "problems on a daily basis" and that the club lacked passion.
Gattuso was fired after three months in his first coaching role with Swiss side Sion in 2013 and was then sacked by Serie B side Palermo after six matches.
He lasted six months with Greek Super League side OFI Crete, during which he gave an infamous expletive-ridden news conference and repeatedly banged his fist on the table.
Last season, the Italy World Cup winner's touchline antics became a regular feature of Lega Pro, including one incident where he slapped his assistant manager around the face during Pisa's 2-1 win over SPAL.
