Teenage defender Josh Emmanuel has signed a new contract with Ipswich.

The 19-year-old would have seen his current deal expire at the end of the season, but has now signed on again until the summer of 2019 with the option of a further 12 months.

Emmanuel, who came through the academy at the Sky Bet Championship club, has made 11 appearances for Mick McCarthy's side this season.

"I am obviously delighted to have signed a new contract," Emmanuel told the club's official website.

"I am enjoying life, enjoying my football and I want to keep on improving my game.

"I just want to keep that going now, the progression, so it is about being more consistent in my performances and doing what I need to do to be ready when I am called upon."
