Derby County are close to completing a loan deal with Middlesbrough for defensive midfielder Julien De Sart, according to Sky sources.

The Belgian U21 international moved to the Riverside Stadium in August for £2.1m from Standard Liege, but has only made one appearance so far.

Now Derby are negotiating a deal which would see him play for Steve McClaren's side until the end of the season as they look to bolster their promotion bid.

The Rams are two points off the play-off places in the Sky Bet Championship after Monday's 3-0 defeat at Norwich.

Sky sources also understand that Derby have had a £2.5m bid for Henri Lansbury rejected by Nottingham Forest.
