Coventry have signed full-back Kevin Foley following his release from Charlton, the Sky Bet League One club have confirmed.

The Republic of Ireland international has joined Coventry until June 2017 with the option to extend. The deal sees Foley reunite with Sky Blues boss Russell Slade, who he played under earlier this season.

Foley signed a short-term deal with the Addicks in August and went on to make 20 appearances but his contract was not renewed when it expired on January 5.

Slade told the club's official website: "Kevin is a top professional and will be a calming and mature influence on the rest of the squad.

"He's capable of moving the ball quickly and is intelligent in his play. I'm pleased to have such an experienced player join the football club."
