Everton goalkeeper Russell Griffiths joins Motherwell on loan

Motherwell have signed Everton goalkeeper Russell Griffiths on loan until the end of the season.

Griffiths is yet to make a senior appearance for Ronald Koeman's side but has already spent two loan spells away from Goodison Park.

Highlights of the fourth round Scottish Cup clash at Ibrox between Rangers and Motherwell

The 20-year-old played two games for Halifax last season, where he was sent off in the 4-1 National League win at Gateshead.

Griffiths enjoyed a more productive spell with Sky Bet League Two side Cheltenham this campaign, playing 29 times for the Robins.

Shortly after the news that Griffiths had made the move to Fir Park, Motherwell confirmed goalkeeper Dean Brill will leave the club to try to secure regular first-team football.

Brill joined from Inverness in June 2016 but the 31-year-old has not played for the Steelmen.

The loan signing of Griffiths on Friday comes a day after Motherwell signed winger Elliott Frear from National League side Forest Green Rovers.
