Joe Skarz has rejoined Bury on a two-year-deal following his departure from Oxford.

The defender left the U's by mutual consent in May after making over 100 appearances for the club, but has quickly been signed up by Lee Clark.

Skarz, who played 145 times for the Shakers during a three-year spell there earlier in his career, has signed a two-year deal with the League Two club with the option of a third year.

Clark, who managed Skarz while the two were at Huddersfield together, told the club website: "Joe is another player that has an affinity with the club and I've also got a good relationship with him after being his manager at Huddersfield, so I know what we are getting with him.

"He's a very experienced player having played numerous games, he's a very accomplished player.

"Joe has played at left-back, but can also play as a left-sided centre-half and, for me, that's a big factor. I want players that can be versatile. We are not going to be carrying the same number of players as last season."
