Brentford want defender Ethan Pinnock from Barnsley

Ethan Pinnock

Brentford are interested in signing Barnsley defender Ethan Pinnock, according to Sky sources.

The Bees are aiming to strengthen their central defensive options after selling Chris Mepham to Bournemouth earlier this week for an initial £12m.

Pinnock has featured 33 times in all competitions for Barnsley so far this season and played a leading role in the club's push for promotion back to the Sky Bet Championship.

Barnsley currently sit fifth in the Sky Bet League One, four points off the automatic promotion spots, and boast the best defensive record in the division.

Pinnock spent six years with non-league side Dulwich Hamlet before joining Forest Green Rovers in 2016.
