Danny Buijs set Feyenoord on their way with the opening goal after 31 minutes and Nicky Hofs added a second goal five minutes before the break.

Stein Huysegems put the game beyond Excelsior with a third for Feyenoord five minutes after the break.

Johan Voskamp pulled a goal back for Excelsior nine minutes from time, but it was a mere consolation for the home side.

The win moves Feyenoord into fourth spot in the Eredivisie as they ended the year in winning style.

For Excelsior it was their sixth successive defeat and they remain just three points above basement boys RKC Waalwijk.
