Fulham have signed former Charlton defender Nathan Ashton on a two-year contract.

Eleventh signing for Cottagers

Fulham have completed the signing of Nathan Ashton on a two-year deal. The 20-year-old, who was previously with Charlton, has also played for England Under 20s and is thought to be a hot prospect. Lawrie Sanchez has wasted little time in stamping his mark on Craven Cottage, with Ashton his eleventh signing since being appointed as manager. Meanwhile, Sanchez hopes to have striker Brian McBride back by Christmas following knee surgery in America.

McBride boost

"Investigations confirmed he suffered a complete rupture of his quadricep muscle in the areas where the quadricep inserts into the patella (kneecap bone). "Consequently he underwent a surgical procedure to repair and reattach the muscle. The surgery went very well and he has returned to complete his rehab with the medical staff here at Fulham. "His recovery will be a steady process in the early stages and we are hoping for a return some time around Christmas."
