Left-back signs short-term deal
Former Birmingham defender Darren Campion has joined Carlisle on a permanent deal.
The 19-year-old left-back has signed a short-term contract at Brunton Park until the end of December, after impressing caretaker boss Greg Abbott during two trial appearances for the reserves.
"Darren has shown a fantastic attitude and he deserves this opportunity to earn himself a longer contract," Abbott told the Carlisle News and Star.
"It is a contract that suits both the lad and the club and it gives him the chance to settle in and really show what he can do."
No return
Meanwhile, French trialist Martin Ekani will not be returning to United.
"He has decided that he is never going to be aggressive enough for English football. Those were the player's own words," Abbott added.
Extension
Defender Zigor Aranalde has also expressed his desire to extend his contract with Carlisle, by another year, when his current deal expires next summer.
The 34-year-old was voted Man of the Match in Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Tranmere and he believes he still has a further year left at playing at a professional level.
"I have always said I am very happy here," he said.
"So if someone from the club comes to talk to me about something, we will talk.
"I am still enjoying it - the day I don't enjoy football is the day to retire.
"I am only concentrating on trying to perform game-in, game-out for the team and the manager, but we will see what happens."
