Striker continues injury comeback

Scunthorpe striker Daniel McBreen continued his comeback from a groin injury as he featured in a reserve game against Hull on Tuesday evening. McBreen has been blighted by the injury for 12 months but after being given a new type of injection, which he discovered back home in Australia, he managed to play for 90 minutes as the Iron were beaten by Hull. The forward is now focusing on a return to full fitness as he continues the rehabilitation process.

Frustrating

"The past year has undoubtedly been the worst period of my career," he told the Scunthorpe Telegraph. "It was very frustrating. It was an injury where you would get to a point where it looked like I was recovering - and then it would break down again. It's a relatively new type of injection into the tendon. "Within two days, after getting permission from the gaffer back here, I had the injection. I have been back training now for about a month. "I have had a couple of reserve games but am obviously short of match fitness."
