Benfica man insists there was no intent in his horror tackle
Benfica's Augustin Binya insists he did not deliberately try to injure Celtic midfielder Scott Brown.
Binya was sent off during Benfica's 1-0 UEFA Champions League defeat at Parkhead on Tuesday night following a shocking tackle on Brown.
The Scotland international accused his opponent of trying to break his leg, but Binya is adamant he was not intent on causing injury.
"I went into the tackle in an aggressive fashion and I lifted my right foot," said Binya in Record.
"But I honestly had no intention of trying to hurt my opponent.
"Now I've seen the tackle on television and it looks bad, but I can assure you I did not try to injure anyone."
Binya will serve an automatic one-match ban, but Uefa has already confirmed it will be looking into the incident.
