Winger likely to sign on non-contract basis
Former Newcastle United youngster Martin Brittain is set to sign non-contract forms with Scunthorpe United.
The winger is currently training with the Championship club and has featured in the Iron's last two reserve matches.
Scunthorpe boss Nigel Adkins is now ready to give Brittain the opportunity to prove his ability and fitness in the coming weeks.
"He is nowhere near full fitness at the moment, but you can see how he can go past his marker and get in a cross," Adkins told the Scunthorpe Evening Telegraph.
"We have given him the opportunity to join us on a non-contract basis to build up his fitness and try and win himself a full contract in January."
Brittain, who started his career at Newcastle, was released by Ipswich Town in the summer and made two appearances for Carlisle United in August.
