Leicester City have confirmed that midfielder Shaun Newton has left the club by mutual consent.

Leicester part company with midfielder Shaun Newton

Leicester City manager Ian Holloway has ended Shaun Newton's stay at the Walkers Stadium. It has been confirmed on the club's official website that the former West Ham player has left the club by mutual consent. The 32-year-old initially joined the Foxes on loan from Wolves in March 2007 - with the view of a permanent deal. However, Newton has made just seven league starts in the 2007/08 campaign and Holloway has deemed the player surplus to requirements. Newton made his final appearance in the Foxes' 2-1 defeat to Southampton in December.
