USA striker left raging after 'good offer' is rejected
New England Revolution striker Taylor Twellman has demanded his side let him join Championship club Preston North End.
The American looked set to join the Lancashire club after manager Alan Irvine made an improved $2.5million (£1.25million) bid for the front-man - however the MLS side have refused to let him leave.
Twellman has been left seething at MLS bosses and has demanded compensation for future loss of earnings.
Speaking to the American media Twellman raged: "It's a good offer. The fair thing to do would be either sell me or adjust my pay accordingly.
"My salary would have tripled what it is now. I'm everywhere from confused to mad, because I don't know where I am on this.
"So it's at the point where I feel they've got to compensate me whether it's with money or more guaranteed years. I just want something to happen."
Commitment
Confusion reigns over the issue - and Twellman is not even sure who are responsible for blocking the deal.
"When I ask MLS they say the Revs rejected it - when I ask the Revs, they say it was MLS," he said.
"Look, you're not going to get more than that for a guy like me who is not always in the international team. It's a good offer.
"They can either re-sign me and make a long-term commitment to me, or they can make money off my sale and I'll be gone.
"They can't withhold me from making three times as much money as I make here."
Irvine told the Lancashire Evening Post: "It's just about dead now, which is a shame because he would have been a great addition to our squad.
"In this country if a player came out and said what he has said you would be fairly confident something would happen. But it is different over there in America.
"If the league says he is not going anywhere - he is not going anywhere."
