Injury cost Inter star Boro move

Goran Slavkovski's agent has confirmed that Middlesbrough called off their deal for the striker because of an injury.

Ankle worry saw deal collapse

Goran Slavkovski's agent has confirmed that Middlesbrough called off their deal for the striker because of an injury. The 18-year-old joined Sheffield United on transfer deadline day in a deal until the end of the season. The Internazionale starlet had been set for a move to Teesside and trained with Boro all last week. However, Boro were concerned by medical tests on the 18-year-old's ankle and opted not to proceed. The Blades took advantage of a co-operation relationship they have with Inter and snapped up the highly-rated Macedonian.

Move

"They [Sheff United] have showed some interest in Goran in the past," explained agent Jozo Palac to Expressen. "Everything went very fast. Sheffield United will loan Goran until the end of the season and next week, they will send representatives to Inter to negotiate an eventual transfer in the summer. "The most important for Goran is to play football." Palac confirmed Boro had issues of an ankle problem. "Three weeks ago, Goran felt that he had a bit pain in the heel," he explained. "The doctor at Inter said it was nothing to worry about. It later proved to be the beginning of an inflammation in a ligament in the ankle. "But the doctor at Middlesbrough felt that Goran had an infection, without doing an X-ray."
