Songo'o seals loan move

Championship strugglers Sheffield Wednesday have signed Portsmouth winger Franck Songo'o on a month-long loan. Songo'o, 20, has made just three appearances for Pompey since joining in 2005 from Barcelona. He is no stranger to loans having spent time with Bournemouth, Preston and most recently Crystal Palace - where he impressed Owls chief Brian Laws.

"He has an abundance of talent and pace and I hope he will be an excellent acquisition for us, starting on Saturday against QPR," said Laws. "Franck can play both sides and that is definitely a bonus for us because he is adaptable. "He played against us at Crystal Palace earlier in the season and showed then that he has a real turn of pace and can be creative. I also saw him in a reserve team game and he really caught my eye. "When Jermaine Johnson was sent off it left us short on the ground for wingers so I made an immediate phone call to Harry Redknapp and I am glad that he has allowed Franck to come here and put himself in the shop window. "Hopefully his arrival will give the rest of the players a real lift as well."
