Port Vale's George Pilkington has admitted he could leave at the end of the season and Saturday's game could be his last at home for The Valiants.
The 26-year-old is out of contract in the summer and after five years, the former skipper may be looking for a fresh challenge, having played over 250 times for Vale.
"There's a good chance I could move on, but I won't be rushing into anything," Pilkington told
The Sentinel.
"I've worked really hard for Vale over the five years, and I just have to take stock of my own career and put myself first and foremost for a change."
Relegation
Pilkington's possible last home game is Saturday's clash against tenth-placed Northampton as the home side prepare to face League Two action next year.
With Vale's relegation, if the defender decides to stay he could face a pay cut, and manager Lee Sinnott plans to announce next week who he plans to keep at the club.
"I'm happy at Vale with two games to look forward to. The game against Northampton will obviously be my last home game for Vale if I'm not here next season, but it's still to be decided.
"I've always loved playing for Vale and I still do. It's a good place and the fans have been brilliant. But the next four years are probably the best of my playing career and that's why it's important I make the right decision."
Sinnott has also released youth players Lloyd Ransome, Jonathan Crompton and Will Brown.
