Jones has ankle op
Grimsby Town striker Gary Jones has undergone ankle surgery.
Jones has surgery last month on his right ankle, but he has now had the seem clearing out operation on his left one.
"When I had my ankles X-rayed before the operation on my right foot, the doctors said that my left foot looked in a slightly worse state," he said.
"I hadn't experienced any discomfort from that ankle so didn't think much of it.
"But the operation on my right one has gone so smoothly that I thought 'why not get the other one sorted?'
Jones is still waiting to find out whether he will be handed a new contract at Grimsby with his current deal set to expire.
Meanwhile, Grimsby have handed youth-team player Grant Normington the chance to prove himself with a six-month contract.
Defender Normington has been a regular for the Mariners' reserves this season and has been rewarded with his first professional deal.
The Yorkshire-born converted midfielder said: "Obviously a six-month contract isn't that long, so I've got to work my hardest in training and hopefully get my chance.
"Hopefully I can prove to the gaffer that I can be a decent right-back and hopefully be here long-term."
