Morecambe have confirmed the signing of Michael Carr from non-league Northwich Victoria.

Shrimps land midfielder

New signing Michael Carr has revealed manager Sammy McIlroy was the decisive factor in his decision to move to Morecambe from non-league outfit Northwich. The 24-year-old midfielder joins the Shrimps on a two-year deal after spending the last four seasons with the Vics and revealed he turned down a number of other clubs for the chance to work with boss McIlroy. "There were a few clubs that showed an interest in me but the fact that Sammy McIlroy is here really sold the club to me," Carr told the club's official website. "I am hoping to make an impact in the club and show I can play at this level. I like to think of myself as a box-to-box player who can chip in with goals as well. "I only scored two last year but in the two years before that scored 29 goals so I am hoping to recapture that type of form as well."
