Stimson eyes Stevenage keeper

Gillingham boss Mark Stimson has confirmed Gillingham are in talks with Stevenage goalkeeper Alan Julian over a move to Priestfield and admitted Danny Cullip is set to leave after snubbing a contract offer. Julian, 25, who started his career at Brentford, is available on a free transfer and Stimson is confident of making him his first signing of the summer. "We've had the opportunity to talk with Alan and bring him down to the club so that we can show him the ground," said Stimson. "There are a couple of other League clubs interested and he's now going to go away and have a think about what we've offered. I'm quietly confident that we will be able to add him to our squad and with Derek Stillie retiring, another goalkeeper would be good for competition."

Cullip

Defender Cullip, meanwhile, will leave the Gills after talks to extend his stay beyond the end of the season ended. Stimson added: "Danny and I spoke 10 weeks ago and agreed a deal but when we sat down at the end of the season, he wanted something else in the deal regarding length of contract. We put something in writing but unfortunately Danny has turned it down."
