Forward dealt setback; Linderoth to return from absence

Markus Rosenberg's hopes of pushing for a starting role at Euro 2008 have been dealt a blow after the Sweden forward sustained a knee injury. Werder Bremen striker Rosenberg picked up the injury in training on Saturday, and could be out of action for up to two weeks. The news will come as a blow for Rosenberg, who had set his sights on impressing in the forthcoming friendlies against Slovenia and Ukraine. "Competition for places is tough and this was my chance to prove myself," he said. Doctor Anders Valentin added in Sportbladet: "It does not look too bad. It will take at least a few days to recover from."

Linderoth

Meanwhile, midfielder Tobias Linderoth will feature in his first match since undergoing surgery on a hip problem back in January when Sweden take on Slovenia on Monday. "We will soon make a decision over Tobias. We want to see how he copes physically," manager Lars Lagerback said.
