Petter Hansson

Petter Hansson is a reliable defender for both club and country. The 31-year-old is now a regular member of the Swedish squad after initially struggling to to command a place in the side on a consistent basis. Hansson made his international debut in 2001 against Finland, but has won less that 20 caps for his country. The no-nonsense defender started his career with Soderhamns in Sweden before joining Halmstad. Hansson spent five seasons with Halmstad before joining Dutch outfit Heerenveen in 2002. He was an integral part of the Heerenveen side establishing himself as a big fans favourite. Rennes signed him in the summer of 2007 and he enjoyed a fine debut season in Ligue 1. Hansson was an unused substitute at Euro 2004 and he was a peripheral figure at the 2006 World Cup. However, Hansson became a regular after the World Cup and played in all but one of Sweden's 12 games for qualifying for Euro 2008.
