Martin Ling is optimistic that Northampton Town striker Adebayo Akinfenwa will join Leyton Orient. Akinfenwa is currently considering his future after being offered a contract to stay at Northampton next season. League One rivals Orient have also held talks with the forward, while Grimsby Town have also expressed an interest. However, Orient manager Ling is confident that his club hold the edge in the ongoing negotiations.

Positive talks

"I had some very positive talks with the lad and hopefully when I get back from my holiday we can get a deal sorted," Ling told the Leyton Guardian. "I know both Northampton and Grimsby want him, but that shows the kind of product we are going after. "I am hopeful that where we are based and the fact - no disrespect to either Northampton or Grimsby - that we are a bigger club in stature than both will swing it in our favour." Ling is also looking to add experienced full-back Danny Granville, who is out of contract at Colchester United, to his squad. He added: "I had a good long chat with Danny and he has gone away to think things over, but hopefully we've done enough to get him as well."
