Veteran drops down a league to join Mariners

Defender Robbie Stockdale has moved from Tranmere to Grimsby on a two-year-deal. The 28-year-old joined Rovers in June 2006 and made more than 80 appearances for the club. But has now dropped down a league after being deemed surplus to requirements at Prenton Park. The Scotland international has also played for Middlesbrough, Sheffield Wednesday, West Ham, Rotherham, Hull and Darlington in his long career.
