Rojiblancos sign highly-rated Spain defender

Sevilla have completed the signing of Spain left-back Fernando Navarro from Real Mallorca for a fee of 5million euros (£4million). The 25-year-old, who is part of his country's Euro 2008 squad, has been brought into the side to replace David Castedo, who moved to Levante last summer after seven years at the club, and Antonio Puerta, who died after suffering a cardiac arrest in August last year. A statement on the club's official website said: "With Navarro, the club will fill a void left by the exit of David Castedo and the tragic death of Antonio Puerta. "Throughout the campaign, this area has given (coach Manolo) Jimenez more than the one headache, but he is finally going to a have a man who offers true guarantees." Navarro played for Barcelona before completing a permanent move to Mallorca in 2006 following a successful loan spell.
