Brighton & Hove Albion manager Micky Adams is ready to offer Kerry Mayo a new contract.

Defender to be rewarded for commitment to club

Brighton & Hove Albion manager Micky Adams is ready to offer Kerry Mayo a new contract. The defender was released at the end of last term by former boss Dean Wilkins, but has been training with Brighton in pre-season. He has made over 400 appearances for the club and played in Saturday's friendly success over Worthing. Adams has praised the 30-year-old's commitment to the club and is now likely to put an offer to Mayo.

Always had a future

"Kerry has always had a future with me," Adams told the club's official website. "He epitomises everything that's good about Brighton & Hove Albion. "He has come in for pre-season and joined in everything. He wants to still be part of this football club. "It is now up to me, the chairman and board of directors to decide whether we feel he's worthy of that. "He's a committed player and I think our squad needs that kind of commitment in general."
