Jason Scotland could feature in Swansea's Championship opener against Charlton after returning from injury.
The Trinidad and Tobago striker played for an hour as Swansea defeated Eredivisie side ADO Den Haag 1-0 in a pre-season friendly on Tuesday.
He has been sidelined since the spring following surgery on a groin problem, but Roberto Martinez will now consider him for the clash at The Valley on Saturday.
"We are delighted with Jason's progress," Martinez told the club's
official website.
"He's got a chance to be involved in the squad against Charlton but you could see that he isn't at the level to play 90 minutes.
"Over the next two to three days we'll see how he's progressing in his fitness and hopefully there'll be no reaction."
No Soutar deal
Meanwhile, Swansea have ended their interest in goalkeeper Derek Soutar.
The former Aberdeen man has been on trial with the Swans in recent weeks but has failed to earn a deal with Martinez's men.
However, the manager insists he will not be rushed into signing cover for his only senior shot-stopper Dorus de Vries.
"We're going to take our time and if there's a reason we need that extra cover and extra body we'll always make it happen," he said.
