Alexander brings in competition for Brain

Macclesfield Town have brought in local goalkeeper Matt Towns on a non-contract basis. Towns has been recruited to provide back-up for Jon Brain and was on the bench for Tuesday's Carling Cup win over Blackpool. Silkmen boss Keith Alexander admits that he was keen to add a new keeper to his squad to provide competition for Brain. "It's no secret we needed another keeper," Alexander told the club's official website. "It is important that Jon has competition for his place and Matt has the chance to show me he is capable of doing just that. "He has not got a great deal of experience, but he has played at quite a high level at university. From what I have seen he is certainly a prospect worth looking at."
