Livingston have joined Inverness in the pursuit of Hearts striker Calum Elliot.

Laszlo keen for forward to gain experience

Livingston have joined Inverness in the pursuit of Hearts striker Calum Elliot as they look to seal a season-long loan swoop. With a prospective MK Dons move now unlikely for Elliot, Livingston are leading the chase with a number of factors in their favour, especially being so close to the striker's birthplace of Edinburgh. The West Lothian club are also attempting to negotiate a loan for Hearts' out-of-favour goalkeeper Anthony Basso in addition to their search for a centre forward. "We are talking with Hearts about both players," Livingston director and Basso's agent, Tomasso Angelini told The Scotsman. "I know Calum Elliot is a good player and that Inverness are interested but Livingston is much closer to Edinburgh and we hope that will be a factor for him. "I'm confident of bringing him to the club and we will keep talking to Hearts. It's the same situation with Anthony."

Talented

If the 21-year-old was to sign for Inverness, who are in the Scottish Premier League with Hearts, he would be unlikely to be allowed to play against them, which also works in the favour of First Division Livingston. His current manager Csaba Laszlo added: "Calum is a talented player, but at the moment for his development, and also for Hearts, it's very important now to maybe loan this player, to be more confident in a new club. "Then after that, we'll bring him back." SPL new boys Hamilton had also pursued the striker, but were unable to agree terms with the promising Scot.
