Wigan are understood to be in negotiations to sign Daniel Arismendi of Venezuela.
The 26-year-old striker was linked with a move to the JJB Stadium earlier in the summer and he admits he would love to join a Premier League club.
"A chance to play in England is unique," said Arismendi.
According to Spanish sources, Arismendi has travelled to England with his agent Luis Aparicio to hold talks with Wigan and another Premier League club.
Arismendi is currently contracted to Union Atletico Maracaibo in his homeland, while he has scored nine goals in 20 appearances for Venezuela.
