Midfielder in contact with Bundesliga clubs

Stephen Appiah has revealed that two Bundesliga clubs are interested in signing him, although his dream remains to play in England. The Ghanaian midfielder is a free agent after leaving Fenerbahce over the summer and he is keen to sort out his future quickly. West Ham, Arsenal and Portsmouth have all been monitoring Appiah's situation but there is now competition from Germany. Bayern Munich and Schalke are understood to be the two clubs in the frame and Appiah admits he could be tempted by such a challenge. "There are two clubs in Germany who have made contact," he explained. "My heart still hopes to play in the Premier League, but the German league is also quality. "There are players such as Ribery who you want to play with, or against. "But it will all be sorted this week."

Encouragement

Appiah has also offered words of encouragement for compatriot Michael Essien, who will be ruled out for several months with a cruciate knee ligament injury. The powerful schemer has also been plagued by injury problems in the past and he wishes Essien a swift recovery. "I am gutted for him. He was so upset last Friday and it made me think about myself. "He is a strong character and he will get there. He will be back soon and I will give him all the support I can."
